The DGAW wants to be a forerunner for the future of the materials industry which moves the development from waste management towards a resource economy. With this goal in mind it creates a combination of production, disposal, politics and science towards product responsibility. In the field of waste management the DGAW has been considered for a long time to be the appropriate partner for industry and politics in the debate concerning “alternative industry of raw materials”. Its strengths lie in the unprejudiced, factually justified, consensual forming of opinion. To this effect it offers a platform for knowledge and an unusual combination of topics and know-how within the network.
“We are the institutionalized „Davos“ of the resource economy.”
Almost all relevant associations and federations of waste management are our members. We inform, arrange and pool inter-organizational points of view. We establish ties between organizations, companies and individuals, in order to understand and discuss different approaches to questions. We arrange and establish ties with international organizations of waste management, especially with ISWA (International Solid Waste Association), Eastern European and Russian associations and organizations.
We are not fighting for individual interests. Instead we counter the trend towards new low standards for our industry. With the focus on topics like “ethics in resource management” we are intent on carrying out this claim.
Within this branch hardly anyone can afford their own department of research- and development. We focus on the development and discussion of visions. We provide important inspiration for strategic, long-term planning.
Our setup and our organizational structure guarantee quick and well-founded insider-information. The interdisciplinary board of directors provides longstanding professional experience and networking. Our regional structure enables locally valid discussion of regionally interesting topics. In pursuing its aims, the DGAW encourages to foster closer links within networks in many fields, regarding it as an important instrument of quality improvement.
The DGAW is allied with lobbying bodies and initiatives of diverse interest (future development, art, psychology, philosophy).
We offer a rich portfolio of benefits for members including free downloads of current lectures; we compose the most recent press releases; we offer an affordable platform for your participation in the fair, and we transmit your request for cooperation.
In developing visions we ask for basic alternatives, leave the beaten track – here you will find the opportunity to safely discuss even unorthodox solutions until they are matured for presentation.
